Due to the need for improved sustainability and the need to ensure our costs don't exceed our revenue we have:
- reduced the number of hanging baskets around the village from 41 to 28 by focussing on the village centre locations. This reduces costs and greatly reduces the watering effort of volunteers
- We have replaced the wire hanging basket with plastic baskets with reservoirs which reduces water wastage and watering effort
- Plants for the summer scheme are selected based on drought tolerance, benefit to insects and their colour
- added the 5 new troughs at the front of the methodist chapel to the existing 13 troughs for summer and winter planting
- changed the bed at the Tollgate road and Little heath signs to a low maintenance Alpine flower bed
- changed the 2 annual planting beds plant at the Lord Combermere pub to low maintenance sensory flower beds
- all other planting remains unchanged
